Tools deserve better questions.
Independent field guides for people building a thoughtful workshop. Our starting point is the work you want to do.
What we're building
Workshop Atlas is an independent English-language editorial media project for US readers exploring equipment for home workshops, prototypes, personal projects and small-batch making. Laser engraving is the first editorial chapter. 3D printing, CNC, electronics and workshop tools are planned directions; they do not yet have published coverage.
Who operates this project
Workshop Atlas is operated by an individual. Workshop Atlas is the project brand, not a registered company. The editorial process described here does not imply a staff of reviewers or a team of equipment experts. Questions and factual corrections can be sent to [email protected].
Research, with the limits visible
These initial guides are based on manufacturer documentation and authoritative safety references. They are not hands-on reviews. We have not measured job times, cut quality, reliability or ownership experience, and we do not assign star ratings.
Specifications are tied to the exact product configuration and a visible review date. Compatibility claims link to their original documentation. Unknown details stay unknown. Manufacturer marketing language is not treated as proof that every formulation of a material is safe.
How we compare equipment
We compare the job, the supported process, the working format and the installation around it. We distinguish laser output from electrical input, usable area from external dimensions, and surface marking from cutting. Named machines are specification examples, not ranked winners.
How updates work
A review date records a real source review, not an automatic refresh. A future correction should identify the affected claim, check the original documentation, update the source record and revise the guide if the recommendation framework changes. Equipment manuals can change; check the current manual before use.
